AC Milan legend tips Marian Shved for glory
He has already got the Celtic fans talking over his performances in Ukraine, but now Celtic’s Marian Shved has been backed for greatness by AC Milan and Ukraine legend Andriy Shevchenko.
Shevchenko said: "I've been watching him closely for the past two weeks in our training camp. It's clear he has a lot of talent. There is still work to be done, but he has progressed hugely.
"He has just made a very big transfer for a massive club like Celtic and he is motivated to show them what he can do when he goes to Scotland. There's no doubt he has improved a lot and he will go on to be a big player for Ukraine."
Shved was signed by Celtic in the January transfer window for £2 million, but was immediately sent back on loan to Karpaty Lviv impressing his new club’s supporters with not only his goalscoring prowess but his overall play. Scoring 15 goals in 26 appearances and four assists in all competitions.
At the time of his signing, it looked like Rodgers was less than impressed with the transfer signing highlighting the fact the club has ‘about a million wingers’ - but with over a month of training at Lennoxtown now under his belt, Shved will now be looking to kick start his Celtic career by using pre-season to showcase his talents to new manager Neil Lennon.
With his international manager impressed with him, the Celtic fans impressed with his play during the second half of the season - it is now up to the 21-year-old to shine and to make his mark with the Scottish champions.
