Motherwell want record fee for youngster David Turnbull

Motherwell have stated that a fee of £1.2 million does not meet their valuation of youngster David Turnbull and that they will be looking for a fee above their record transfer sale..

The 19-year-old, who has starred for the Fir Park side this season, has been linked over the past few days with a move to the Scottish champions while Brighton are also interested in the player.

However, Motherwell chief executive Alan Burrows is looking for a fee that is significantly higher than the £1.7 million the club received when the late Phil O’Donnell was sold to Celtic in 1994.

Posting on twitter, Burrows said: "We will only consider offers of significantly more than our record fee received. We will sell him on our terms."

Turnbull scored 16 goals in 34 games in all competitions this season for Motherwell, who finished 8th in the Scottish Premiership.

He signed a contract extension with the club in January until May 2021.
