A deal must be done for David Turnbull
The summer transfer window is now upon us and once again Celtic fans are looking towards the club’s board to pull their finger out to strengthen the team ahead of the new season kicking off.
One player whose name has came up time and time again is Motherwell’s David Turnbull. And with Celtic looking to put their failure to sign John McGinn last season out to pasture - a move for Turnbull must be made now or risk losing him to a club in England.
The 19-year-old has been in sensational form for Motherwell, scoring 16 times in 34 appearances for the Fir Park side in all competitions, and that has prompted the likes of Celtic to try to sign the midfielder.
It does look like Celtic’s valuation of the player is significantly lower than that of Motherwell’s, the latter demanding a fee of around £3 million, but with John McGinn still fresh in the minds of the Celtic board and the fans alike - if Lennon wants the player then they must bite the bullet and pay what the Fir Park side want.
They may be disappointed that someone at Motherwell made it known to the press that Celtic had made an initial offer, they cannot let their displeasure get in the way of signing a top talent.
With Tom Rogic struggling to find form last season and linked with a move away from Parkhead, while Ryan Christie starred when he came into the fold, Turnbull’s introduction into Celtic’s attacking options could prove vital - especially on the domestic scene, with Celtic set to battle it out on all four fronts for the first half of the season.
Time to dip into your pocket and pay the man what he wants Celtic.
