Celtic to face CFR Cluj or Maccabi Tel-Aviv in third round of Champions League

Celtic will face either CFR Cluj of Romania or Israeli side Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the third round of the Champions League qualifying campaign, if they progress past Estonian side Nomme Kalju in the second round.

Celtic will travel to either Romania or Israel for the away leg first on either the 6th or 7th August, with the return leg at Celtic Park scheduled for August 13th.

CFR Cluj beat Astana 3-2 on aggregate to set up a second round tie against the Israeli side, while Tel Aviv entered the second qualifying round automatically.

Last season, Cluj crashed out of the Europa League 5-2 on aggregate to Luxembourg minnows Dudelange, and Tel Aviv lost 3-2 on aggregate to Norwegian side Sarpsborg 08 FF in the Europa League play-offs.

Before that they will host Nomme Kalju on July 24th, before travelling to Estonia on the 7th July as they look to make the group stages of the Champions League for the third time in four seasons.
