Farewell Craig Gordon. Thank you for your service.

It looks like Craig Gordon could be on his way out of Celtic after reports claimed that the shotstopper is weighing up his options after seeing Scott Bain usurp him in the team.

The 36-year-old lost his place in the team after Celtic’s defeat to Rangers in December, despite making a few good saves, and has not played since.

With a final year remaining on his contract and Celtic manager Neil Lennon looking likely to continue selecting Bain as the club’s starting keeper, Gordon will almost certainly look for a move away - paving the way for Celtic to make a move for Livingston keeper Liam Kelly - who also happens to be a Celtic fan.

Gordon was first choice for much of Brendan Rodgers’ tenure at Celtic, despite Dorus de Vries coming in a number of times. He has been an integral part of Celtic’s 8-in-a-row league title run and party to the historic treble treble win.

It is highly unlikely that Celtic will let Gordon go for nothing, given that De Vries has now left the club this summer following the end of his contract, but a nominal fee may swing it for the Scottish champions as would Kelly’s signing.

Over the five years he has been at Celtic, Gordon has made nearly 240 appearances between the sticks. He was recalled to the Scotland set-up after what was a horrific period of his career as he had to take a two year break out with severe knee injuries.

If or when Gordon does leave, we wish him well. But we are still not happy he shacked up with Summer Harl and left us to deal with Gerry McCulloch on Celtic TV!
