Injury-hit midfielder looking to win more trophies with Celtic

Israeli midfielder Nir Bitton believes that he can make an impact at Celtic next season despite an injury-hit season last year.

With one year remaining on his contract, Bitton played only ten times last season for Celtic, but is looking to stay at the club to win more silverware with the club under Neil Lennon.

Bitton said: "I still have a contract at Celtic so I am staying. I haven't spoken to any other clubs. As long as I am under contract and Celtic believes in me, I will stay.

"I will do everything I can to return the faith and the investment Celtic have made in in me. Leaving is not an option "

With a plethora of midfielders, the 27-year-old will find it tough to secure regular first team football at Celtic but could prove to be a valuable squad player as Neil Lennon looks to equal Jock Stein’s nine titles in a row record set during the 1960s-70s.

With Brown in the twilight of his Celtic career, could a resurgent Bitton earn a new contract and with that succeed Brown in the centre of midfield? It will be a tough ask for the Israeli midfielder as this season is make or break for him.

Signed from MS Ashdod in August 2013, Bitton has amassed an impressive 12 winners medals in his six years in Glasgow, making 181 appearances - 47 of these substitute appearances - and scoring 11 times in all competitions.
